Frequently Asked Questions

What are the dates for the 2011 season?
The full 7-week session runs from June 26–August 15, 2011. The first session is June 26–July 25, 2011 (4 weeks). The second session is July 27–August 15, 2011 (3 weeks).

How much is the tuition?
Our tuition for the 4-week session is $4,000 plus a $500 registration fee for a total of $4,500. The tuition for the 3 week session is $3,000 plus a $500 registration fee for a total of $3,500. The full 7-week session is $6,500 plus the $500 registration fee for a total of $7,000.

What are the requirements for financial aid?
Financial aid is based solely on the parents’ and/or student’s ability to pay. All scholarship students who are 14 years of age or older are required to work serving meals in the dining hall every other day.

What is meant by “Non-Refundable Registration Fee (upon camper acceptance)”?
Registration should be made with the intent to attend NEMC. If the student is accepted, the $500 fee guarantees the student an ID number that confirms a space in the studio and a bed in a cabin. This fee is non-refundable. If the student is not accepted, the $500 fee will be refunded.

Are allowances made for students who come late or leave early?
Students may come a day or two late due to conflicts with school schedules or other commitments. Rarely do students leave early. No monetary adjustments are made for personal choices in scheduling arrivals or departures.

What happens if my child withdraws?
If a camper withdraws after May 1, and a replacement cannot be found, the parent of the withdrawing camper will be held responsible for the full tuition.

Do you accept guitar or piano majors?
NEMC is a performance-oriented camp. Every camper needs to be proficient enough to perform in a major ensemble (band, chorus, orchestra—2 levels of each). We have limited space in our guitar and piano studios for majors. These studios are usually filled with students who are studying an instrument or voice as well as piano or guitar.
